Preston Beach, a secret city getaway

Preston Beach occupies one of the state’s most unspoiled and uncrowded stretches of coastline where you can stroll down to the beach, stake out your own private spot on the mile upon mile of white sands, and enjoy safe swimming for all ages in the crystal-clear waters. It’s been renowned since the early 1950s as a great place for fishing. The beach has a children’s playground, lawn area with shady trees and free electric barbecues, toilets and showers all close to the beach.

You’ll need your own clubs for the challenging, undulating 9 hole Preston Beach Golf Club which encircles the townsite where the kangaroos are your caddy. The Yalgorup National Park has around 12,000 hectares of natural bushland and the well-signposted Heathlands, Lake Pollard and Lake Preston Walking Trails will give you all the exercise you could possibly want when you haven’t got your feet up!

In Yalgorup National park you will find plenty of local fauna, including Western Grey Kangaroos, emus, brush wallaby’s, brush-tailed possums, echidna, and bandicoots. For those who haven’t visited before, we think you’ll be agreeably surprised with what you find. In fact, some kangaroos might even join you at the holiday home, they often come by for a visit.
Our Holiday Home units are located just 250 meters from the beach, and among the closest properties to the Indian Ocean. Both properties have three bedrooms and sleep 6, there are a Queen and four single beds. Both units are fitted with all mod cons; with en suite bathroom, two toilets, laundry with washing machine, digital TV’s, reverse cycle air-conditioning and a fully equipped kitchen a gas BBQ under the protected veranda.

If you don’t want to BBQ every day, you don’t need too as there is a well-stocked General Store, which has a range of takeaways, including freshly prepared fish and chips, burgers, and sandwiches. Bread and cakes are also baked daily on the premises where you will also find groceries, fresh fruit, and vegetables, bait, ice, fuel, and liquor store.

About than 90 minutes from the Perth CBD, Preston Beach is an ideal location for a completely relaxing week or for those looking for a quick weekend getaway after a busy working week. Imagine jumping in the car on a Friday afternoon and arriving at this idyllic location in such a short time.
Getting to Preston Beach couldn’t be simpler. If you’ve ever headed down south, then you’ve probably driven right by Preston Beach Road on your way to Busselton or Albany without knowing it was there. The Kwinana Freeway becomes the Forrest Highway with the Preston Beach turn off being the first one on the right a short distance beyond where this new road meets the Old Coast Road. It’s then just nine kilometers straight into Preston Beach where you’ll find that our Holiday Homes are the last properties on the left, just before you reach the beach car park.

Fishing is as popular with the locals as it is with holidaymakers. The area is rich in stocks of skippy, herring, tailor, whiting and salmon. Enjoy a leisurely walk along the beach and lull the afternoon away followed by a glass of WA wine as the sun goes down. For outdoor warriors, the beaches are miles long either side of Preston Beach and are open to four-wheel drives. So lower your tyre pressure and drop it into high range and explore some of the more remote coastline just outside Preston Beach.
Stunning ocean views are only one of the fantastic qualities of the properties. Both units are on one block but maintain their own element of privacy. The 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom units are immaculately presented and, as with all API holiday homes, fully self-contained.

If you’re looking for a great lunch spot, why not jump in the car and head to Mandurah and enjoy a snack while overlooking the recently developed foreshore. The calm waters of the marina, coupled with the dozens of restaurants and café’s make the 35 min drive well worth it. Not only can you enjoy a fantastic lunch, but the views make for a photographers dream. Enjoy crabbing and fishing on the Peel inlet and Mandurah estuary or spend a day discovering Mandurah's vibrant heart and waterways. Footprints Cafe is just a stone’s throw along Mitchell Road and there’s a licensed general store close by providing takeaway foods to help you have a relaxing break.

To experience some of the local flavors or for a souvenir stop by Cape Bouvard Wines, just 30 minutes north of Preston Beach and situated adjacent to the Lake Clifton Thrombolite boardwalk. Cape Bouvard stocks an extensive range of fine wines and serves delicious lunches all year round. Open daily 10am to 5pm.

For the hops and barley lovers amongst us then the Old Coast Brewery in Myalup will be close to the top of your to-do list and is just 30 minutes south of Preston Beach. Set on 60 acres of green pasture, fronted by 1,000 olive trees, and just two minutes off the highway, the Old Coast Brewery offers a unique location for an easy Day Trip. Enjoy the tranquil and relaxed environment, perfect for children with a large recreation lawn to kick a ball around. There’s an awesome kid’s playground, featuring the challenging Microspider climbing web and there’s also an official outlet for the famous Simmo’s Ice-creams of Dunsborough. After strolling around the Lakelands and Olive Grove, Mum and Dad can then enjoy fresh award-winning boutique beers, local wines or perhaps a winter liqueur from the in-house distillery while the talented chefs prepare a sumptuous meal using fresh local produce.

Read them carefully as these Terms and Conditions constitute an agreement between You as the herein known as “Guest” and the Property Manager known as the Australian Post-Tel Institute of (Western Australia) Incorporated, known herein as APIWA. Acceptance of these Terms and Conditions is achieved by the Guest Booking a Property either over the phone or by internet, no physical signature is required. APIWA may alter these terms and conditions at any time upon thirty days written notice. All use of APIWA properties, facilities, services and products after the date specified in such notice will be subject to such altered terms and conditions. If you continue to use APIWA properties, facilities, services and products after the date such alterations become effective you agree to the altered terms and conditions, and you will be deemed to have agreed to the altered terms and conditions whether they impact holiday homes, membership or any other document.

When you stay or join APIWA, these conditions are deemed to have been accepted by all people who use our services. The APIWA Staff and Caretakers are authorised to ensure that members comply with these Terms and Conditions at all times.

Payment Policy

13. Payment - 100% of the total cost of your Booking fee is required upon reservation to ensure that your Booking is confirmed. Without full payment no access to the Property will be given and the Booking will be cancelled without refund. If for any reason your payments are not received in full, APIWA reserves the right to cancel your Booking and apply appropriate cancellation charges (see clause 20 cancellation conditions).

Cancellation Policy

20. Cancellations/Refunds/fees - A fixed compulsory administrative cancellation fee of $100 and fixed transfer fee of $50.00 applies to all Bookings without exception. Bookings cancelled 8 weeks or more prior to the commencement date will be only refunded at the discretion of the CEO and the maximum refund amount is the value of the original Booking less 30%. If a Booking is cancelled less than 8 weeks prior to commencement, no refund shall be made. No refund is given on any unused portion of rent. In some instances the cancelled booking dates can be re-sold, in this case the re-sold portion may be refunded but this is based on another Guest Booking the same unit at the same time to essentially take over the previous Booking to a maximum of 70% and does not always apply.

The CEO at her discretion, may at any time decline or cancel a Booking or apply any additional conditions deemed necessary, including the imposition of a bond of up to $10,000 per Booking and charge for repairs. (We do not accept bank transfers or cash for bond payments unless by special arrangement). For bonds that are processed, the funds will be released to your account/credit card after your departure from the property as long as there are no issues during the stay.
