APLITE HOUSE sits amongst a two hundred acre private property of secluded forest. The property is fringed by the world renowned Freycinet National Park. Aplite House is conveniently located along the "Great Eastern Drive" on the Freycinet Peninsula, between Coles Bay and Bicheno at Friendly Beaches. Aplite House is a 2.5 hr drive from Hobart, 2 hr drive from Launceston, 1.5 hr drive from St Helens, 40 min drive from Swansea and 25 min drive from Coles Bay or Bicheno.
Aplite House is a very private home base that is well positioned for exploring Tasmania's East Coast. While at the house there is a sense of immersion in native Tasmanian forest with views over Moulting Lagoon conservation area it is a very relaxing and tranquil environment. Nearby is pristine Friendly Beaches that are almost 8 km long and most times feels like you have the entire beach to yourself. Aplite House is a sanctuary in the heart of one of Australia's most iconic landscapes. While enjoying the seclusion and privacy of the property it is within easy reach to explore Coles Bay, Bicheno, Wineglass Bay hiking trail, Honeymoon Bay, Sleepy Bay, Bluestone Bay, Cape Tourville Lighthouse, Bicheno Blowhole, Denison Beach, Freycinet National Park, Douglas Apsley National Park and East Coast Vineyards, along with the many other activities the region offers.
The property surrounding Aplite House is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna including orchids, tasmanian devils, wombats, possums, wallabies, quolls and wedge tail eagles.
Architecturally designed by Stephen Geason. Stephen was commissioned while a Director of prominant Hobart Architectural firm Dock 4. He was selected because of his appreciation for Tasmania and the Freycinet region. The brief was to design a solar passive, site specific home used for short to medium length, self catering stays of guests, with multiple locations to relax, built using Tasmanian materials. Stephen first visited the property prior to any site preparation, he walked over the entire property and discussed location. When the site was selected the Architectural design process began and with extensive inclusive discussion with the owner over the 18 months process a plan to build from was concluded that we the owners are very pleased with. For those who have or do take a well deserved rest in the seat on the saddle of the Wineglass Bay walk, they can thank Stephen for the experience of it, he designed and built the Saddle seat as a student some time ago.
The build of Aplite House was completed by the owners over a 5 year period. It was very important to use Tasmanian materials extensively. There has been a very deliberate and considered effort to present Tasmania in every way possible. This includes the hand built furniture within, most of which has been made of the timber sourced from a single tree.The house gathers its own water supply from rainfall stored in three 24000 litre tanks. It is off grid solar powered with a generator back up. There has been much research and development to achieve the power generation suited to consumption of the house, scaled to the electrical appliances within and ensuring the comfort for those using the house to the level they are familiar with. Aplite House has a very small global footprint there is minimal input from external facilities. There has been no compromise for comfort required to achieve this environmentally friendly house, which has minimal need for heating or cooling other than that provided by the sun and cross ventilation.

There is a continually growing collection of Tasmanian Art rotated. This includes painting, photography, ceramics, glass work, print making, origami and sculpture.
We the owners of Aplite House have a high enjoyment and appreciation for Tasmania and are particularly fond of the Freycinet region and this very special property. It is our goal to translate this into memorable and enjoyable experiences for those who spend time at Aplite House.

Terms & Conditions

Booking Terms & Conditions & Cancellation Policy

We will require details of your credit card at the time a booking is confirmed.

A deposit equal to 30% of the total cost of accommodation (the accommodation deposit) must be paid by you at the time a booking is made, with the balance payable in full in advance 30 days before your arrival.

Should you cancel the booking not less than 30 days before the commencement date of your reservation the full amount of the deposit will be charged. Your booking may be transferred to another date, subject to availability.

Should you cancel the booking 30 days or less from the commencement date of your reservation the total cost of your reservation will be payable in full.

No refund will be made if you cancel any part of your reservation during your stay.

Additional Guests to those already booked are charged at $25 per night for the
full duration of the booking, regardless of the number of nights stayed.

Damage & Behavior

Although Bicheno Holiday Rentals does not require a security deposit, should any damage beyond fair wear and tear be caused to the property, or should it be necessary to conduct additional cleaning at the end of your stay, the cost will be charged to you. Guests will be notified on claims being made prior to any payments being debited.

Should any behavior during your stay become unacceptable to us, we reserve the right without prior notice to terminate your stay and to require you to leave the premises forthwith.

Guest’s numbers are limited to the amount of guests requested at the time of reservation. Use of non booked beds will be charged at $25 per night. No extra mattresses are too brought onto the property. If the property is reported to be overloaded, the booking will be terminated and guests will be asked to vacate with no refund made.

Our holiday premises are not pet friendly unless specified and camping or fires are not permitted within the property boundary

Smoking inside all properties is prohibited. Guests must discard cigarette butts into the rubbish bins. Cigarette butts discarded into the garden beds may incur an additional charge for cleaning.

Bicheno Holiday Rentals may inspect the property with reasonable notice and at any time without notice if there is any belief that there has been a breach of these conditions herein.
If the occupancy ends or the lease is terminated, guests must immediately vacate the property. Bicheno Holiday Rentals is authorized to do whatever is required to enforce the eviction of any guests and removal of guest’s property

Faults/ Problems

All holiday properties under Bicheno Holiday rentals management are privately owned and are rented on a fully self contained basis. In the event of faults and/or malfunctions of appliances or inclusions, there is no obligation from the owner or Bicheno Holiday Rentals to compensate or discount.

Bicheno Holiday Rentals will accept no responsibility for any inconvenience with machinery breakdown. The agent’s best endeavor’s to repair, replace or hire an alternative will be undertaken.

Left items- if requested we will endeavor to recover and return items inadvertently left in a holiday property, but we take no responsibility for the recovery or return of these items. Postage and packaging and the cost of sending out a staff member to search for the item will need to be paid in advance, a minimum cost of $27.50 incl. GST applies this is at the guests expense. Low value items will be held for claiming, if returned to us, for a maximum of 2 weeks and if not claimed will be disposed of.

If keys and/or remotes are lost, a fee of $55 including GST will apply for lost keys, with an additional charge of $77 including GST per garage/alarm remotes (if applicable).

Should guests lock themselves out of a property a $55 including GST call out fee is applicable


Liability & Indemnity

Guests staying in our holiday premises do so at their own risk Bicheno Holiday Rentals or the Accommodation’s Owner incur no liability for any loss, damage to property, personal injury or illness, including by reason of negligence. You agree to indemnify and to keep indemnified Bicheno Holiday Rentals and its employees against liability to any person arising under or in right of you in respect of any loss or damage arising out of or in consequence of your participation in the use of the premises managed by Bicheno Holiday Rentals.

Fees and Charges

By agreeing to pay the accommodation deposit you agree to be bound by the terms of this agreement, and authorize Bicheno Holiday Rentals to debit any and all fees and charges set out herein to the credit card details of which you provided at the time of making the accommodation deposit.
