This must be the HEALTHIEST place to stay in Tasmania. "Sassafras Springs" is a collection of three rustic cottages and an old farmhouse set upon a peaceful 107 acre property in Ellendale, an hour and a half drive from Hobart through the beautiful Derwent Valley.Breathe the fresh air and sip the filtered water from our bubbling creek. Enjoy gathering and preparing vegetables and fruit from our organic garden and orchard. Snuggle down between the freshly laundered organic sheets on our natural latex mattresses and enjoy a really quiet undisturbed sleep. All cottages are fully self contained.
"Sassafras Springs" is the ideal base for a few days exploring the Derwent Valley and the nearby Mt Field National Park but you will find lots to do here too with our on site rainforest walks and activities for kids.

Guests who make noise or disturb other Guests will be asked to leave the property.
This is a no-smoking property.
Drone flying is not permitted.
Only the stated maximum no of people (incl children and infants) can stay in cottages
Due to the remote location of our property, check in closes at 6 pm.
There are no street lights near us, and there is a lot of treasured wildlife on our roads, we want to protect their safety as well yours.
We also want to look after the comfort and enjoyment of our other guests.

Payment Policy

Payment is accepted by Visa or Mastercard
Reservation is secured by credit card or
direct payment to our Bank Account
A 50% deposit is due upon confirmation.

Cancellation Policy

No cancellation fees if the cancellation is notified more than 14 days before the booking date (the deposit will be refunded).
Deposit is non refundable/non transferable if cancellation is within 14 days of reservation.

At Easter, December and January 21 days notification of cancellation is required. Deposit is non refundable/non transferable if cancellation is within 21 days of reservation.

Group bookings - when 2 or more cottages have been booked, 30 days notification of cancellation is required. Deposit is non refundable/non transferable if cancellation is within 30 days or reservation.

Travel insurance to cover any loss of deposits is strongly recommended.
