Nestled under the beams of Sugarloaf Point Lighthouse - lies the historic Lighthouse Keepers’ Cottages. The lighthouse precinct is part of an operational lighthouse and represents a rich cultural history for its role in fishing, maritime safety, shipwrecks, and the local communities.

The 3 Lighthouse Keepers’ Cottages offer a unique opportunity for holidaymakers to enjoy life under the light.
The Head Keeper’s Cottage sleeps eight, with the two smaller Assistant Keepers’ Cottages sleeping six in each cottage.
Both Assistant Keepers' cottages can be combined via an adjoining door in the living room to accommodate a group up to 12 guests. All 3 cottages feature ample entertaining areas both indoors and outdoors, enjoying skyward views to the awe-inspiring lighthouse with its comforting light beaming into the wilderness.

Set against the bushland backdrop of Myall Lakes National Park, the popular lighthouse cottages provide a unique coastal escape for a family holiday, to hold an event, or to have a romantic getaway. Fully self-contained with all the conveniences required for a comfortable stay, while you relax with a drink and the spectacular views of Seal Rocks in the foreground and Broughton Island to the south.

Originally constructed in 1875 by colonial architect James Barnet, the tastefully appointed cottages are a reflection of the historical period construction, blended with features of the surrounding native environment. Decorated with trinkets and historical artefacts of time and lives gone by, there is a story in every step as you explore the grounds and make your own memories.

Make the most of the many vantage points in the cottages for views of the rugged wilderness to creep in, while you bask in sunny nooks with a book in hand, or spot the seaspray plumes of our annual humpback visitors as they follow their age-old migration paths to and from warmer climates. Enjoy direct beach access to the pristine Lighthouse Beach and experience the remoteness of simply you and your footprints. Venture out in the neighbouring surrounds of the Myall Lakes and Wallingat National Parks, Wallis and Smith Lakes, rivers, rock pools, and the significant Aboriginal sites of the Worimi people.

This charming cottage has three bedrooms to accommodate 8. The bedding configuration is one bedroom with a queen bed, and two bedrooms with a queen and single bed each. The displayed nightly tariff is inclusive of 6 guests, extra person charges apply. The bathroom has a separate shower and bathtub. Ideal for families or to host an event, this cottage features a fully-equipped chef’s kitchen and a large dining area.

Boasting a generous and private al fresco dining area, this cottage is ideal for making the most of balmy nights by dining under the stars and light beams.

The secure enclosed yard will allow the kids to play safely while you sit back and relax. The sweeping verandah wrapping the cottage features expansive views of the rugged coastline, and South West to Lighthouse Beach provides the best vantage point to watch the sun setting. The indoor sunroom and many sunny portholes from which to soak up the views may pose your toughest decision of the day, “Where do I sit to enjoy my morning coffee?”

Terms & Conditions

1. Occupancy: National Parks and Wildlife Services (NPWS) strictly permits a total of 20 accommodated guests staying across the 3 cottages at any one time. The Head Keeper’s Cottage: 8 guests. The Assistant Keeper’s North Cottage: 6 guests. The Assistant Keeper’s South Cottage: 6 guests. Children and infants are included in the occupancy numbers.
2. Day visitors: Prior to receiving visitors to your cottage, please register them on your Guest Register form. Day visitors must be accompanied to and from the main gate and are permitted to park in the overflow parking area. The access gate code is strictly for overnight guests only.
3. Check-in: Your cottage will be available from 2pm. We will be preparing your cottage prior to your arrival.
4. Departure: Prior to your 10:00 departure, rubbish must be removed from the cottage and placed in the outdoor bins provided; furniture to be put back to their original position; used dishes are to be cleaned and packed away. The BBQ to be wiped down after use with the paper towels stored in the cleaning bucket.
5. Gate access code: Upon receipt of full payment and the return of your Security and Guest Register, an access code will be given to allow vehicle entrance through the National Park main gate. This gate access code is to be kept confidential, as NPWS only permits guests’ vehicles to be on site.
6. Parking: The Head Keeper’s Cottage has 3 spaces; Assistant Keepers’ Cottages has 2 spaces per cottage. Vehicles are permitted to drive up to the cottages for loading and unloading purposes only.
7. The cottages are self-catering holiday accommodation, so please bring your provisions. All bed and bath linen are provided for the number of booked occupants, and first-night amenities are supplied with our compliments.
8. The SRLC office is adjoined to the Head Keeper's Cottage, and staff will be available to assist.
9. Our on-site caretaker will be available in case of an emergency.
10. Cottage key: Guests are responsible for the safekeeping of the cottage key. Replacement of any lost keys will incur a fee.
11. Personal property: Items left behind on departure can be returned by post at the guest’s expense.
12. Letting consideration: All bookings are accepted on the basis that utmost care and consideration is given to the cottages and neighbouring guests.
13. Indoor furniture and soft furnishings are not to be used outdoors. Sudden changes in the weather can occur at Sugarloaf Point, and property left outdoors unsupervised may result in damage. All furniture must be left in the cottage as originally found. All damages, breakages or losses are to be reported to the office.
14. Wildlife: As the cottages are located in the Myall Lakes National Park, feeding of any native animals is prohibited.
15. Pets are not permitted on site under any circumstances.
16. Smoking is not allowed in any of the cottages.
17. Power outages: The Seal Rocks area can be subject to power outages, and we take no responsibility for any inconvenience or damage to your property that may occur.
18. Pit fires, charcoal lit barbeques, and open flame candles are not permitted indoors and outdoors. Fires are not permitted in the Myall Lakes National Park.

Payment Policy

1. Bookings are not confirmed until a holding deposit is received by credit card or direct bank transfer.

2. Your tariff has been quoted for the number of occupants stated on your reservation. SRLC reserves the right to charge for any additional occupants.

3. SRLC does not accept separate payments from occupants in a group booking, other than the person nominated on the reservation.

4. Bookings made more than 30 days before the arrival date will require a 50% deposit.

5. Bookings made 30 days or less before the arrival date will require full payment.

6. Balance of the total tariff is due 30 days prior to arrival.

7. Group Bookings: 2-3 cottages.
A surcharge of $30 per cottage will apply and refunded when all cottage items are returned to their original cottage.

8. A credit card must be provided in the event of damaged or loss of property.

Cancellation Policy

1. Cancellations are only refunded when the cottage is re-booked for the equal number of days. Within 30 days of the arrival date the balance will be payable and refunded if the cottage is re-booked. No refund on any unused portion of a confirmed holiday booking will be made.
All cancellations must be in writing and will incur a $50 administration fee.
On these occasions, we will do our best to rebook and refund.

2. Rescheduling will not be accepted within 30 days of your reservation and will be considered on a case-by-case basis. An administration fee of $50 will incur for each reschedule. No refund on any unused portion of a holiday booking will be made.
